where can i buy some nice scandinavian style decorations for tree this year?

My Dad went on a business trip to Stockholm when I was about 8 and brought back a giant box of stunning jewellery beads for my sister and I. Its truly the most memorable gift I've ever received, I have no idea how unique it was at the time, only that it was hugely precious to us and an absolute joy.

I have harboured a desire to visit Scandinavia ever since. Only ever been to Finland with work, still pining.....

yes those decorations are pretty rip off. Probably be overall cheaper to buy an easyjet flight and buy some in the supermarkets here!

Quint - are your nisser like Danish nisser? Do you have house nisser and barn nisser and cheeky nisser that get up to mischief etc?

My mum always used to quote an old Danish saying at me "nisser flytter med" - "the nisser move with you wherever you go", ie, your problems always follow you so you're better off trying to sort them out than running away from them.

If anyone is in N Yorkshire, I can bring some cheap Scandi tat straw, paper, felt, wooden etc decorations over for you mid-Dec.

They sound just like the swedish tomte nisse. Do the norwegian ones get up to mischief if they don't get their porridge.

Speaking of which, Quintessential, did you ever see the Norwegiean spoof reality show where a bunch of people had to pretend to be nisser and one got voted out each day? It was hilarious and I'd love to get hold of a copy but I can even remember the name =(
