Which Wii?

Is there a more up to date one out - a motion controller or something.

Do I need to watch out for the old one being sold and try and get the 'newer' one?

I will watch this thread as I need to tell my Dad which one he should buy us for christmas and I have no idea...

wii motion plus is something that you attatch to existing wii remotes to 'upgrade' them, but you can get wii packages with motion plus included, the console itself is exactly the same.

Don't get the red Wii with the motionplus and controller all in one (or any other with that model of controller), make sure you get one with the attachment you remove. For playing games like Guitar Hero and the like, you need the controller on its own, with a motionplus attached, it won't fit into the guitar model. Other than that, you may well find that the white consoles are cheaper only because they have been out longer than the black ones, there will be no difference in specs or function.

Tbh, you're better off looking at what you get in a package rather than the actual console itself, the games can get expensive, so get a package deal that contains something you will be happy playing straight away, rather than having to shell out for games you will actually enjoy.
