Planning a drinks party between Christmas and New year, just nibbles, mince pies, mulled wine etc, what time would you think suitable?

We're thinking mid afternoon onwards, is that weird? Should it be evening?

I would do mid afternoon, as long as you are inviting the whole family.

Personally I'd prefer mid afternoon... just easier isn't it? Sounds lovely.

We have a pre Christmas one every year for friends, some of whom bring children, its always from 2pm. Normally most people rock up 3-4pm, and its still going strong at 9pm.

Perfect time if families involved.

It depends on the ages of the people going and when you want it to be over by. I think the 'at home' type things can be more work as they can go on for ages!
