Because I can't even think about it until the end of term (am a student)
So far have bought 2 annuals from the charity shop for dd's and have some fruit soaking in the kitchen for a cake, which I suddenyl realised I have to make this year.

Apart from that, nothing.

Come and join me in a 'meh' thread. Our christmas will be just as good as all those prepared people's, it just won't take as long Grin

I bought 2 presents today some cheap dolls while i was in pound shop

And we made sweets at the weekend with a friend for christmas presents. We didn't realise that the fudge only keeps for a month though. Oops. and the peppermint creams are all gone. Double oops. But still, sounds good!

I've started thinking about Christmas - that is major progress. Another week or so and I might buy a small Christmas related item, just to dip my toe into the water.

2gorgeousboys · 16/11/2010 19:10

I have got DS1 and DS2 a present each and have got Christmas cards (designed at school in September, delivered last week - so not really down to me!)

But I have no intention of doing any shopping or prep until 5 December when I put my tree etc up. I am usually the most organised person in the world and I will start my lists for everything I need to do, in a couple of weeks time but I think that starting too early takes away some of the magic and christmassyness for me. Usually I do all my christmas shopping around 20th December and spend 1 day buying everything.

So I am not ready but not because I am disorganised.

BornToFolk · 16/11/2010 19:13

We don't even know where we're going to be for Christmas! No one has officially invited us (usually take it in turns to go to ILs'/my mum's) so we might end up having it here.

Have done some present shopping though and I've managed to end up with loads of annual leave so I've got 4 days off between now and Xmas.

It is over a month away still - loads of time!

2gorgeousboys · 16/11/2010 19:13

All those who have already bought and wrapped their presents - do you not miss sitting in front of the fire, christmas tree up, carols playing, mulled wine in hand wrapping presents?

Someone at work announced in the summer they had done all their christmas shopping, as though it was something to be proud of Hmm

StarkAndWitchesWillFindYou · 16/11/2010 19:15

What? No. I don't think they've even started playing christmas tunes on the radio yet have they?

I usually have to wait until my 200th Fairy Tale of New York before it even registered that Christmas is anywhere near.

And besides, we have 6 November birthdays in our family. We can't do Christams stuff until at least they are all out of the way.

Xmasfairy7cakes · 16/11/2010 19:37

Well apart from making 7 xmas cakes Wink and I have stocking fillers done for the smallest 4 dcs, I am not ready for xmas.

I dont know what to get for my eldest 2 dd's, they are 12 and 10. I have bought a Wii between the 6 dcs although dd4 is a little bit to young.

But I am really, really, really looking forward to xmas this year Grin i had 2 shit xmas's 2 years ago we all knew it was my mums last xmas, and last year was our first xmas without her.

Ilythia · 16/11/2010 20:26

I'm all done with Christmas as far as pressies and cards are concerned. but then, we decided to go to the uk to visit all the family next week, so will be handing over presents & posting cards then (will save about $100 on poastage).

have just booked in the carpet fitter for first week in dec, so i have 3 rooms to repaint before then, though, so that will keep me out of trouble.

mumeeee · 16/11/2010 21:46

I haven't done anything at all for Christmas. Too busy at work and trying to make a special Photo Album for DD2's 21st Birthday.

PatTheHammer · 16/11/2010 21:53

This thread is making me feel so much better, I am starting to despise all those status updates;

'Finished all my christmas shopping, blah, blah, balh.......gloat'

Seriously, some of these were in OCTOBER, do these people have nothing else going on in their lives!

I have bought the advent calendars and a sylvanian windmill for DD before they run out. Oh, and picked up a copule of nice trinkets in the garden centre for my best mate on sunday. Thats it though, no cards, food, stocking fillers nothing. And, we are hosting this year, oh well!

Its actualy my birthday today and I hate thinking too much about Christmas around my birthday, I always end up spending my sodding birthday money on other people's presents too.

Not this year though, something far more interesting..................car tax!!Grin

nameymcnamechange · 16/11/2010 22:02

I never start on any sort of Christmas preparations before 1st December.

I am ahead of myself this year because I have bought one present (for my dd) Grin.

Infact, this year is going to be a doddle because we are not hosting so I hardly have to do any food shopping, only a few bottles of booze and treats for the people we are visiting. Yay!
