I want to buy an mp3 player for my DS who is 7, I want it for use with speakers/docking station rather than earphones - can anyone recommend one that is good quality but not too fragile?

Think it's got to be some kind of Ipod, that way there are so many options for docking stations/speakers. They are pretty robust too.

Try the Sony NWZ-E443k player and dock. The player gets good reviews and I have a sony myself and its great. Dont know about the speakers. I did see it on amazon a couple of weeks ago all in for about £60 which is a lot for a 7 year old. have been trying to source one for my daughter as well. Dont want tinny sound and dont want to spend a fortune.

Ds had an Ipod Nano for his 7th birthday and also a docking station with cd player and radio (own-brand from Tesco).

He listens to it every night before bed and he has a travel speaker to use if we go away.

My plan was to put audio-books on it aswell but I haven't figured out how to get them from itunes to the ipod so he just has music and a few photos on there!

Would recommend ebay for Ipods, lots of people upgrading in the run up to xmas - we got ours this time last yr very cheaply.

mogs0 - your audiobooks should go from itunes to your ipod when you synch it - there's a genre category 'audiobooks' (or maybe is it 'books & spoken'), & they should just be there!

You do need to make sure 'genre' in the file details is set to audiobook.

Ds7 would like a Nano.Would the new ones be too small for a 7 year old?. Can't find the old ones anywhere.
