present idea for friends!

i have just bought 40 douglas fir seeds online. i can get little zinc pots in homebase, and a bag of compost. i am going to plant a seed in a pot, put a red ribbon round the pot and wrap in cellophane. a christmas tree plant!

How quick do they grow? Lovely idea btw!

I did this one summer with apple pips.

no idea how quick they grow, but am thinking if i plant them in the next week they should have at least sprouted by christmas

I'm making candles and christmas wreathes for mine. For one, I'm making up some of our favourite cocktail.

I'm thinking about a mushroom log so they can grow their own shitakke mushrooms to eat etc - is that weird?
