How about filling a jar with retro sweets.
(Did this for my dad last year and filled with miget gems, cherry lips, floral gums etc, all the sweets he used to eat with us, and he was over the moon)

Kilner jar. Just remembered the name. Very cheap in ikea and got sweets from a market stall.

How about 5 lottery scratch cards? We did this one year and went down really well as everyone was eager to see if the recipient was a winner!
