In case this hasn't already been done, link to Portable North Pole

Massive hit in our household last year. It's not available yet, but you can leave your email address at the above link and it will alert you when you can get a message.

If you haven't seen or used PNP before, I urge you to sign up. It will make you cry!

I think you have to pay for them if you want to download and save them.

My DCs loved them, I wasn't sure if 2yr old DD would really get it but her eyes lit up when santa said her name.

Absolutely love this My boys were so thrilled especially after getting an early finish from school.

I have just become aware of the PNP website and have contacted both NSPCC and CEOP (The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) as well as a variety of media organisations, because I believe that people who use it should first consider the risks involved in providing personal details of a child to a website about which they essentially know nothing at all.

I know of nothing to suggest that the site is anything other than 100% legitimate - but all the same, would you give your child's name, photograph, age, sex, email ID and postal address to a stranger you had met in a pub? I doubt it - and Portable North Pole really isn't any different.

Please, please, please consider the risks involved in this sort of thing before deciding to use the service!

I just did a video (after heading about it on a different thread) but didn't put a photo or our postcode for this reason.

We enjoyed a thorouhgly magical moment with our DSs over their messages. Site doesn't take UK post codes and we used a private email address which is one of DH's. The DC are too young to use internet unsupervised and don't use social networking tools yet.

Thanks to the op for providing the link, we loved it and I am confident we have not left our DC open to be tracked or contacted in any way.

Just did it for DS (2) and he was spellbound! I wish the toddler version was a bit more detailed (put in lots of other stuff about eating his veg, sharing his toys etc, which weren't mentioned) but it was magical!

Am I the only one who didn't think it was that great? It asked for hair and eye colour and name of pet etc but unless the child can read it's of no use because he doesn't say it out loud. It also only says the name of the requested present if you choose from the drop down list, so if you are more specific it is again only any good if the child can read. Also surely if you do this every year children that are school age are going to realise it's just automated and the same as the one they saw last year and the year before?
