We haven't lived here that long, so would really appreciate advice on getting the children (3 - 9) out and about doing all things festive.

We usually go to Santa at Harrods, we've been to Lapland UK for an outdoorsy type thing in the past, and always go to panto, so I'm looking for different things around the North West to get them (by which I mean ME) all festive and fun.

TIA Smile

The santa special looks great but we dont drive is it easy to get to via train to manchester as dont fancy booking it then getting lost :( anyone have any ideas?

I'm thinking that we'll get the Metrolink to Bury.

Its an hour, £12 for adults, £10 for children with a seat, £7 for children without a seat.

There are reductions for the first week.

Santa gets on, and there's a brass band. Children all get a pressie.

3bears - yes you could get metrolink to it. Where will you be coming from? I don't drive, but DH does, though during the week i am alone with public transport so a dab hand at getting anywhere now Grin let me know if you need any advice in getting there then

The3Bears · 22/10/2010 21:05

Thanks maxy :)Im useless with public transport but ds is obsessed with trains so would love this, I'll be coming from stockport :)

The metrolink from Manchester centre goes through to bury. You can get in outside primark/debenhams and it's 3.50 return.

maxybrown · 22/10/2010 22:26

oh ha us too! We live in Woodley Smile Shame we couldn't squash you in too!

Metrolink will be quickest way, go into picadilly then get tram. You can get a tram and train ticket too which will give you unlimted travel for the day.

You can get buses too, though will take a long time! Can give you more info if needed on any of it though! Smile I can get anywhere Grin
