right, for ds's xmas we have got him

4 books
stocking fillers
happyland farm set from elc

he did have 2 jumpers, but im planning to use them now to get the most wear out of them

he'll be getting new pjs etc xmas eve

we're not going overboard with toys as he has so many, and we're due a dd in feb

Dh wants to replace the jumpers with a toy, so we're thinking of giving him the farm from me and dh and another toy as from FC

ive looked at my usual haunts (elc online and toysrus) but can't see that "perfect" toy for him so please help

budget between £20 -£40

no ride on toys, garages or activity tables as we have that.

thankyou so much!!!

What about something crafty:
Eg
Playdoh set
Aquadoodle mat

Or something classic:
Eg
Wooden alphabet blocks
(We have has these ones for 3 yrs and they really are gorgeous and have been well loved - great for teaching letters too)
Plain wooden blocks
Wooden work bench
Stacking train
Wooden abacus

Or something educational/role-play orientated
Eg
Dinosaur figures
Dressing up costume
Geometric stacker

Just thinking of things my boys love and have loved over the years (they are now 4 and 6)

Wooden train set?

My DS (2.3) has had this Brio one since he was about 18 months old. It does say from age 3, but has been fine with supervision. In fact, he's getting a few accessories this Christmas.

Or some Duplo? Lots of nice sets around in the £20 - £40 price range at Amazon, John Lewis etc.

Brio (or similar) wooden railway - you'll get several years use out of it, and will be able to add bits for future present ideas.
