Which light saber?

Can anyone recommed a good one? I am totally baffled by this knd of thing.

argos one is cheap and cheerful - doesn't light up, and if you want a specific colour, ask. We got DS one for last Christmas and he still loves it

DS is 5.5 so I suspect he'll want something that lights up. I wondered about this as it splits in two so good for Jedi playdates but I'm not sure how important the lack of spring acton bade is and so whether we should instead get one like this?

that's obvioulsy action blade not acton bade...

The second one is similar to one I bought 10 ish years ago, lights up has really good noises
(the humming sound) and makes a bashing one when you contact something else. The one we have doesn't have spring action but flicks out (telescopic effect). It is really good. You could get a cheap second hand one from ebay for combat, I mean play dates :)

I would get the light cheap ones that do telescope out but don't have lights/sounds for use in fighting playing: they cause less damage to opponents friends.

Then get the "most authentic" for posing. The double ended one is quite coveted (my DS(9) is nagging for one). Though I do sometimes think this is the sort of thing a DH would enjoy choosing and buying.

I would let DH choose but he's very much a last minute shopper and I know from bitter experience this is not a wise move with such an important item.

at last! a thread I can speak with great knowledge on and advise. ds is obsessed with star wars (5.5) and he says that this force actionones are best, they make the zzzzzewwwwww zzzzzzzzewwwwww noises and light up.

If he wants to dress up as well there's a good selection of children's Star Wars costumes here -also adult ones!
