We are spending Christmas overseas, so I need some ideas for presents that look exciting but are small and easy to bring back in our suitcases.

Traveling from country in Southern Hemisphere to another in the Southern Hemisphere - so beachy/swimming type things are good - but they are both getting new swimming costumes and towels (which they desperately need for swimming lessons) for their birthdays (which are both this month).

Inflatable things - balls, lilo, armbands etc Could you find an inflatable snowman or father christmas Grin
goggles for 4yr old?
Aquadraw - can be packed flat
dressing up clothes (again packed flat)
What about those foldable buckets you can get with a small spade?

For 4 year old how about some Polly Pocket or Littlest Pet Shop? You could take it out of packaging before packing and is then quite small.

Kites? They are light and will pack flat

Tiny dolls (e.g. to go in dolls' house)? (saw some in ELC, sorry know not helpful to you! Something like this
Some swimming pool toys?
New colouring books/activity books?

Thanks for the ideas.

Any more? Smile

I was hoping for a 'main' present suggestion - although I did wonder whether we could get away with leaving a note from FC saying that there was a present waiting for them at home as we were wanting to get them an outdoor toy.

For your 4 year old - What about one of those portable game things - leapfrog, vtech or maybe even a ds or a camera - the fisher price kid tough is meant to be good..
for 1 year old I would really recommend the aquadraw - it is our most played with toy.

The outdoor toy is good one too - could you do the note with a picture? Maybe arrange for someone to set it up for you so its there when you get home.. I think that would be fine as long as they have a few things to open on the day .

Thanks - I think I will do that. Great idea to have a picture of it in the letter - and will have a friend set it up before we arrive as jetlag with two small children and setting up an outdoor toy does not appeal! And perhaps it will give them something to do whilst we are unpacking etc.
