will you be decorating your tree in this year? Do you only use one or two? Or you you chuck anything on it?? When i was a child ours had allsorts on it, lots of different colours it was lovely :)

For some reason i tend to stick to two colours. This year will be purple and silver Grin Last year we had gold/bronze/silver

What will yours be?

I only ever do white.......we have a real tree and white lights and decorations look simple but stunning.

lazycow007 · 05/10/2010 14:01

We bung on the whole kaboodle, kids help us decorate weekend nearest to Dec 1st (so Nov 27th this year) and it's a free for all. It is not elegant but a lot of love goes into it and i love it. Some decorations are from when i was a child and the end result is a colourful mixture of mayhem - lovely! Smile

neverenoughMEtime · 05/10/2010 14:13

I bet white looks stunning..ive done all silver but never thought to do white! Grin May try that next year!

I loved our colourful mixture of mayhem when i was a child :) Will have to do that one year for DD's too!

we have different coloured glass balls, lots of lights (warm white) clear glass crystals, and bright coloured felt animals that the boys put on where ever they like with a star at the top,

lazycow007 · 05/10/2010 15:06

Hey Bythepowerofgreyskull - did you get my PM i sent you re the Home Alone films?

FingonTheValiant · 05/10/2010 15:37

Chocolate and berry theme here this year. Green and gold last year.

I wanted white lights, glass baubles and white decorations, but was told by dh that it was boring. I'm now jealous of all the minimalist trees Envy

My main concern is that we've rearranged the living room, and there's no room for a tree. Goodness knows how to fit it in. We might literally have to move a sofa out for the Christmas period :o

ooh have just read it... didn't realise thtat the envelope at the top of the screen meant something Smile

GrimmaTheNome · 05/10/2010 16:32

Green, gold and red.
Same as every year since DD was 3 and we first got a tree. Same decorations - she'd be outraged if I changed them!

Seriously, don't most people just keep the same stuff in a box, adding an occasional child-made bauble now and again regardless of colour or taste?

personallyresponsible · 05/10/2010 16:35

Red gold, black and white here.

ALways the same.

Even when we add new kids stuff, it's always hte same colour way.

neverenoughMEtime · 05/10/2010 17:14

Yes i think most people do grimma. Ive collected/been given lots of different coloured decs so always choose a couple of colours each year.

We have one all silver, arty big tree in the conservatory and a completely clashing children-decorated big tree in the living room then the kids can have their own little trees in their rooms.

We couldn't decide whether to do stylish or homely so we did both!

Everyone buys a new decoration every year so we needed somewhere for them to overspill!

thisiswhataluv · 05/10/2010 18:21

when i was a child we had lots of bright lights and coloured mismatched ornaments on our tree, it looked fab...
we stick with a fibre optic tree now...actually im on the lookout for tree inspiration think i might start a new thread Grin

MrsSaxon · 05/10/2010 20:17

I have done white, crystal and pale greens for a couple of years.

This year I am going for peacock colours. I bought some gorgeous cream and gold ribbon from ebay and blue gold and green baubles in the M@S sale last year.

Still keeping all my crystally bits.

Not a bit tree obsessed, no siree not me. Grin

PS. DD gets her own tree with coloured lights and 20 baubles per branch.

Dee78 · 05/10/2010 21:48

We used to have a beautiful very tasteful gold and silver tree every year but since last year when DS became old enough to pull all the glass and ribbon off, along with the tree we had to change to gold, green and red homely children decorations. We even have tinsel now and this year are getting a fairy to replace my gorgeous silver satellite thing from John Lewis. I've just had to put them all away until for the next ten years until they won't be dangerous any more.

ja9 · 06/10/2010 16:01

oooh, white sounds really lovely.... may copy sometime.

i love gold. bronze and gold here...

neverenoughMEtime · 06/10/2010 17:04

Bronze and gold look lovely. Peacock colours would be nice too!

I may change my mind before 1st dec :)

My tree has been green, red and gold for the last 12 years. I buy one new bauble every year but always in that theme. DC's assosiate that colour with Christmas and even home made ones tone in. Smile
