Think this may be just the thing for an almost 5 year old DS this Christmas.

Where is the cheapest place to buy?

Is it worth getting the mini-set e.g. buzz lightyear one - or should we go straight for the full size one?

my almost 5 year old loved his scalextric last christmas. We got him the simpsons one but rather wished we'd gone for the full size proper car one because he played with Bart and Homer away from the track and has now lost them both.

I think tis a good prezzie.

well, my DS lost interest after one hour !

my 7 yr old ds loves his -wish we'd got it sooner! But I can see it having a long shelf life round here! Got first lot from Amazon

I used to love it and have kept my old one for our DC

Definitely get the full-sized one - if it's loved it can be easily added to and the cars could make good future birthday/Xmas presents. And if not you can always sell it on.

Thanks for the advice - looks like the full sized version is a go - now to mobilise family members to contribute to it!

we got ds it at 5 and he didnt enjoy it. prefered more hands on toys rather than watching cars whizz round (and coming off track a lot!).

he 6.5 now and plays with it now and again, but if I could do it again I would have waited until he was older.
