She has DS, phone and Netbook. I've been looking for clothes but preteen and teen clothes are just horrible at the moment.

Have got her some lovely Twilight notebooks in a tin, some nice pens for project work, smellies, books, fleece pjs and slippers.

She was given lots of makeup last year by well meaning relatives but she only really experiments with mascara and lip gloss at the moment.(Thank goodness!)

She hasn't got any ideas! She actually told me not to bother getting her much, maybe a claire's voucher!

What does your preteen covert? Any ideas gratefully received

phone credit vouchers, cinema vouchers

welshandproud · 23/09/2010 17:34

Cinema vouchers great idea! Just out of interest would you allow a 12yr old to go to the cinema with a friend?I'd take her and pick her up as multiplex is out of town and she's not done public transport on her own yet.

My exH is responsible for phone costs, I think he puts a tenner a month on it for 500 texts and 100 incl mins. She rarely uses it up to that limit anyway

Great ideas, keep them coming!

tegan · 23/09/2010 17:48

My dd1 is also 12 and she has asked for a bmx, other than that she has a list of clothes she would like from blue banana website and itunes vouchers or phone credit always go down well with her.

My mum is buying her a pocket camcorder as she takes a camera everywhere with her.

Other than that money is always a good bet as she goes shopping after christmas and can buy what she wants then

Just looked at Sugar website, it looks quite old does anyone know what age range it's aimed at?

re clothes... check out the smaller adult sizes, DD is incredibly slim yet is zize 8-10 and many adult ranges start at 6 and has had some lovely checked blouses/sweatshirts recently (i.e. age appropriate).

Do you make her a stocking? My DD enjoys her stockings with bits 'n' bobs almost more than the major presents e.g. DD loves body sprays; dry shampoo; bangles/bracelets; new gel pens; calendar etc.

If your DD is arty crafty, kits for cardmaking/scrapbooking perhaps?

MistsAndMellow · 02/10/2010 22:37

My DD is 10.5 and she's getting some Twilight merchandise: bag, badges, DVD, poster and also a better than "basic" mobile phone which has a decent camera and is touch-screen. She has been such a star with her £10 phone all year.

She has been after a "real" sewing box / kit for a while and Letterbox do one. Toys R Us Perfume Factory, a Grease Wii Game and whatever the rip-off Build-a-Bear creature is and that's it for main presents.

Polgara2 · 05/10/2010 14:47

Welshandproud try Shout magazine, we got dd1 who was 12 then a subscription for this last Christmas.

welshandproud · 06/10/2010 11:04

Thanks Polgara just looked at their website, that looks much more age appropriate.

Yes, she loved it and has only stopped getting it recently (more to do with the subscription running out and having to buy it herself methinks Grin).
