we always take ours to the grotto in debenhams. its wonderful, but last year i took dd2 to the one in our local shopping centre, they had done a whole massive room up like a tunnel leading into the grotto, and had loads and loads of light up vehicles and houses and stuff along the way. it was gorgeous

memoo, what good grotto's do you know in Cheshire please? I'm up in Merseyside and was hoping someone could recommend some.

The one at Walton Gardens is the best, I swear its the real father Christmas! Its usually quite busy but they always operate a ticket system and tell you what time your turn is so you can have a look round the park instead of having to stand in line for ages.

Thanks for that Memoo, just had a look at their website and think we'll definitely give them a try.

If you could find your way up the A34, I love the grotto at Wyevale in Bicester. Loads of lovely mechanical reindeer, etc too.

Good grotto at Ascot Racecourse family day in December which is where we went last year.

The Victorian Grotto at the London Docklands Museum is also pretty amazing and is about £5 I think.
