Hello!
I haven't retired but one thought is perhaps volunteering? Many of my retired friends do so and find value in it.

I have not retired, but I would find fulfilment in working for my church: maybe join the pastoral team to assist with the the feeding programme, or home / hospital visiting; maybe join the local hospital's League of Friends; joining the U3A? https://www.u3a.org.uk/ - there are so many things, but I guess it depends on what are your interests.

u3a - Welcome to u3a

u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run groups providing a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun exploring new ideas skills & interests

I may not be the example you are looking for. I've been retired for nearly three years. When I finished work I decided to study for an MA in theology. It got ever so slightly out of hand and I'm being ordained in a few weeks.😅
