I was at the mass of the Lord's Supper yesterday evening and am back from the afternoon devotions, so half way. Jesus is on the cross, for us.

Looking forward to Sunday morning.

We're just about to leave for an evening of quiet reflection in church. ( And a bit of Allegri's "Miserere".)

May you all have a blessed Good Friday, and turn your eyes and hearts to the joy that is to come. Roll on Sunday!

I was at a gathering this week and we had a Passover meal to celebrate Christ’s Jewish heritage and also relating some of the symbolism to Jesus’s final sacrifice. We reflected upon the Last Supper and God’s faithfulness and mercy.

We had beautiful Good Friday service yesterday morning. So good to really focus on Jesus and what he did. Very moving.

DeanElderberry · 04/04/2026 20:19

Back from church for the third day running. Paschal fire lit, the candle that will be lit at baptisms, wedding, funerals etc during the year has been blessed, as has the water for baptism. We all renewed our baptismal promises. We heard the scriptures. He is risen.

Lent is over.

I'll go to a dawn Mass tomorrow, but meanwhile I have had a glass of wine, my second in nearly 7 weeks (St Patrick's day is a day off Lent in Ireland).

Alleluia. Alleluia.

Happy Easter all.

Thegreatestoftheseislove · 05/04/2026 10:31

Praise God, Jesus is alive! Happy Easter, all.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

ChristmasStars · 05/04/2026 10:50

We are going to the evening service. I can't wait to be singing glorious resurrection songs with the congregation.

"Our life had no hope of Eternal Happiness before You redeemed us." Pope Francis, 2020

HE IS RISEN! ✝️ HAPPY EASTER!

Sausagenbacon · 05/04/2026 19:43

Happy Easter!
We had a wonderful Good Friday service and an Easter Vigil last night. I'm afraid that meant I was churched-out this morning though, so we had a day out.

DeanElderberry · 05/04/2026 19:49

I'm simultaneously churched-out and half planning that next year I'll go the Polish food blessing on Holy Saturday. As well as the Triduum and the dawn mass.

As I said to a friend this morning, it's a privilege of healthy older age - if you were working full time, or looking after a family, it would be too much. But just at the moment I'm able to do it.

Earlier, I attributed a lovely quote to the late Pope Francis. I was wrong; it is actually from an Easter prayer by Saint Gregory the Great. I've copied it here for you. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did!

It is only right, with all the powers of our heart and mind, to praise You, Father, and Your Only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dear Father, by Your wondrous condescension of loving-kindness toward us, Your servants, You gave up Your Son.
Dear Jesus, You paid the debt of Adam for us to the Eternal Father by Your Blood poured out in loving-kindness. You cleared away the darkness of sin by Your magnificent and radiant Resurrection.
You broke the bonds of death and rose from the grave as a Conqueror. You rose from the dead! We too shall rise. At Your Resurrection, You sought to give us an example of our own resurrection to come.
Our life had no hope of eternal happiness before You redeemed us. Your Resurrection has washed away our sins, restored our innocence, and brought us joy. How inestimable is the tenderness of Your love!

Just back from our service. It was so joyful and hopeful. He is risen indeed!

Troubledwords · 06/04/2026 11:08

I'm also feeling churched out now. I did Holy Thursday, Easter Vigil, Dawn service and Easter Sunday Mass.

The dawn one is one I go to if I'm awake, as it's an outside all churches one.

Blessed belated Easter! I did not know this section existed and sorry I just now found out. I felt quite lonely being on MN as a Christian. Glad to see you all!

Hello @P0cketP1g . We are rather a well kept secret. Or a select group! But you are very welcome here.
