Hello Friends,

I just wanted to say hello to you all. I’m a Christian Sabbath Keeper.

We share the same one, true, living God.

May the God of all peace and grace bless you abundantly on His hallowed Sabbath 🤍

"We too are to rejoice in the Lord and be thankful and prayerful and joyous in all that we do and in all circumstance"

This is from Paul's letter to the Thessalonians. Paul was one of the earliest to place Judaism in conflict with Christianity, and was a proponent of doing away with the mitzvot and Halakha.

We are not the same!

Paul was a Pharisee, who slaughtered Christians until he had an encounter with Jesus and turned to Christianity. There was much conflict in those days towards those who accepted Jesus as the Messiah

This - 💯

I’d like to hope that not all people on this board feel like this. I thought we were to love each other

Everything we abstain from is not a sacrifice

Exactly this. It is another mindful choice.

Dilbertian · 27/01/2025 23:15

We can love each other while disagreeing with each other.

You may feel that you are respecting our religion by engaging with it from a Christian perspective, and as far as that goes it would be fine. But you are telling us it all relates to Jesus. That's colonising it.

I agreed with a rather mild statement that the Jewish mumsnetters board is not the right forum for quoting Christian doctrine at us, and giving us your interpretation of Jewish festivals. nossuperrese was quite polite really given you’ve clearly come to proselytise in a Jewish space.

and you’re disappointed as we’re supposed to love you? What on earth does that statement even mean? If we’re not falling over ourselves to welcome you and agree with you then we don’t love you? We’re Jews, of course we fundamentally disagree with your basic premise of Jesus being the saviour/Gods son. What’s that got to do with love?

I was happy to engage in an interesting conversation about your practices, although it’s a strange forum to start the conversation, until you started in with the manipulative ‘love’ stuff, and you’ve clearly not even bothered to read my answer properly , as I didn’t quote ‘other books’, I gave you my perspective on how I live and experience my Judaism, my ancestral tradition. But as you’ve come to proselytise, not engage in friendly discussion, then please don’t stay.

@PraiseHim i read Scripture and take my doctrine directly from it as most of the churches have changed the doctrine mixing truth and error

How do you determine that your reading of Scripture is the correct doctrine?

LeaningOnTheEverlastingArms · 28/01/2025 13:41

@MNHQ thank you for moving this thread from the Jewish Mumsnetters board.

I’ve not been in agreement with several prior posts by the OP on the Christian board, and I hope that Jewish Mumsnetters will understand that this person is not representative of other Christians in either her modus operandi or her content.

Peace and goodwill to all. 🙏🏻

If you're trying to be a clever atheist, @Snailbleu, at least get your facts right. If WeGoChai is pasting from the UK, she posted nearly two hours after Shabbat had ended.

As for PraiseHim, she's observing the Jewish Shabbat according to her Christian understanding - so why do you expect her to follow the rules of what you no doubt see as merely a different Flying Spaghetti Monster?

The criticism was directed at OP. I’m not an atheist.

OP’s post doesn’t belong on this board.

Which board? The OP was on the Jewish board, but since my reply the thread has been moved to the Christian board.

The Jewish board where originally posted, I didn't notice it had been moved
