Someone sent me this poem today and I thought I would share it here.

Not sure what the legalities are of posting the whole thing so I will just quote a bit and leave a link for those who are interested.

THE GATE OF THE YEAR

'God Knows'

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
"Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown".
And he replied:
"Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way"….

We used to have this read to us by the Head at the end of every term at school. It really takes me back...thank you!

I found a YouTube British Pathé clip of the author reading the portion which the King quoted.
