Weird mark on baby's leg

My twelve week old baby has an odd mark on her right lower leg....it is a small cluster of slightly raised patches, slightly darker in colour to her skin (though reddish in tone). At first I thought it was some sort of insect bite but when I showed it to the doctor he said "nothing to worry about- just a reaction to something"....anyway, it's still there three weeks later so I'm being a typical paranoid mum and thinking that a "reaction" couldn't last that long!....and then wondering if perhaps it is something more sinister.... I've tried googling on the Internet but can't find anything that sounds like it....so now I'm worrying!!! I'm
tempted to go back to the gp but I don't want him to think I am mad!!!...she is thriving in every way and this mark doesn't seem to cause her any trouble - it's not even that noticable from certain angles. I suppose I just want to know what it is so I can stop worrying about it....anyone know what it could be?

Hiya,

I can honestly think of nothing sinister that could be - but if you are still worried then its perfectly ok to go back to the GP and tell them exactly what you are thinking so they can explain and reassure you. Sometimes we do find little marks or bits on the skin that we can't explain but are still nothing to worry about but sometimes it might be like a little fungal infection or a mild bit of eczema that can easily be treated. He won't think you are mad

Birth mark?

My Dd has something similar - a little rectangular area on the bottom half of her calf. It looks like a tight cluster of permanent goosebumps. It is also a little darker than her skin. I noticed it when she was a few weeks old and she still has it at 4 - although it is less noticeable.

TBH I have never worried about it on DD, and haven't followed it up medically. Having said that it is perfectly reasonable for you to get it checked again if your are concerned.
