....or have I not bought the right one? Saw a mention on another thread and bought a bottle this morning, only to see it said for not under 6.

I had some Benadryl anti-allergy in the bathroom cupboard that was suitable for 2yr olds onwards (hayfever only). The new packaging is now for 6+ only, so have had to buy Piriton syrup for my DS.

I'm assuming there's been a recent change in the advice?

Seona1973 · 08/07/2010 13:33

piriton syrup is for over 1's and piriteze is for over 6's

acebaby · 08/07/2010 13:37

fyi - I got muddled with this too and gave my 4yo a dose of piriteze rather than piriton when he had chicken pox. NHS direct said he would be fine but (obviously) not to give him any more.

Seona1973 · 08/07/2010 13:53

benadryl do a solution for over 2's and a kids one for over 6's too

piprabbit · 08/07/2010 13:56

According to our pharmacy they've stopped doing the 2+ version. And their website only mentions the 6+ version.

The oral syrup is from 2 years and you can get it here. It is on the benadryl website too.

piriton syrup should be from age 1 according to the electronic medicine compendium (NHSDirect approved website) but boots say 2+. An online pharmacy says 1+.
