Can a 6 month old "catch" tonsilitis?

My 6 month old DD is alternating between screaming the place down and sleeping. She has a blocked/snotty nose. She is refusing her dummy, which I know could be because of the blocked nose. But I had tonsilitis last week. Im still on AB for it.
Im kind of worrying that she may have got it. Is that even possible? Most things ive found say most cases are from the age of 5.

She is still having her milk though.

Someone please tell me it's unlikely that she has tonsilitis and it's probably just a bad cold she has.

Is nobody going to tell me to stop overreacting and go get myself a glass of wine??

Not sure about telling you to go and get a glass of wine - I've done the middle of the night run to hospital with 6 month old with high fever who turned out to have tonsilitis that time. They can get bacterial infections at any age.

If you are concerned and your DD is poorly and feverish I would get her checked over.. if no fever and generally cheery, than yes - it's probably a bad cold. It's your call - hope she perks up soon

How is her temperature? If normal then very unlikely she has tonsillitis. Don't believe the from 5 thing - both mine have had it many times under the age of 5 but the temp was always the give away

can you see her tonsils? do they look too red or whitish?

Thank you for the responses! She hasnt got a temperature. I just think im being paranoid because im just getting over tonsilitis myself.
I couldnt get a good look in her mouth.
She's currently sleeping in our room with the carvol plug in thing on full ball!

(still forgoing the wine for tonight though as am unfortunately rather experienced at the middle of the night mad dashes to the hospital!)
