6 week old baby seems to have toddlers bug, worried....

My six week old seems to be unwell, and my toddler and husband have just had a nasty diarrhea and sickness bug. The baby has only thrown up once, earlier this evening, and has since fed without being sick, but she has slept solidly over the last 24 hours. I'm assuming her body is fighting off the virus. I know that she's not dehydrated, but when babies this old have very runny nappies, it's hard to monitor whether it's diarrhea or not, so I'm just going by the vomitting. I'm going to wake her shortly to feed her, as she's showing no signs of waking up naturally, and I'm just concerned that a baby this young may be much more vulnerable to such a nasty bug, and wondering if I should be doing more?

Any thoughts?

If she's only vomited once and fed ok since I wouldn't be too concerned about that alone (although frequent/repeated vomiting should not be left long before consulting a doctor at such a young age). But when you say she has slept solidly over the past 24hrs and you are going to wake her for feed do you mean she is more sleepy/drowsy that normal? If so she should be seen by Dr (out of hours GP or hospital).

Hi cupofcoffee, yes she is definitely more sleepy than normal, and my attempt to wake her for a feed failed. She's not got a temperature or struggling to breather or any other worrying signs, just very asleep! She fed about 6.30pm, and was awake breifly, but normally she's a very awake baby in the evening, so this is very abnormal for her. So it sounds like I should phone NHS direct then?

Hi varmit how is she now? Did you call NHS/Dr?

Hi there, shortly after my last message she decided to wake up and feed! She had a very sleepy couple of days, but I think it was probably a growth spurt, apparently common at six weeks. Back to full on screaming last night, so all is well!!

Thanks for your concern.
