to the point of being hysterical in the car , so I had to pull over and get the teeny tiny green fly the size of a pin head out of the window.

also, a tiny spider on the roof of the car led to similar screaming and not wanting to get back in the car

this is the same child that was happily bug catching with big brother 3 weeks ago...

not sure what has happened, her teacher has not mentioned it, so not sure if this is something she is just doing when with me..

i am not keen on spiders, but am v v careful not to transmit my revulsion to DD or DS..

what to do? how to tackle this?

any advice appreciated

will watch this with interest. DS2 is currently doing the same thing (he is almost 5). DS1 is a bit jumpy about bugs too he is almost 7.
DH is alergic to wasps and a big girls blouse afraid of butterflies, well anything flappy infact. Think he may have passed on fear.

My daughter is almost 3 and has recently developed a phobia too. Nightamres about flying ladybirds as well

I confess I took her to butterfly world and spent a long time supporting and encouraging her and by the the 5th time through the butterfly bit she was no longer scared of those. I plan to go again soon. I also plan to visit other places with creepy crawlies to try and show her they're not all harmful, no need to be scared of etc.

My theory was kill or cure but my daughter is younger. I do wish you all the best though and hope it's a phase that passes soon.

hope it gets better for you too sockmonkey

thanks pixie.. thikn i will try that, with no reaction

teaandcake...that's an idea

i managed to get her to come out in teh garden just now.. and a fly came near and she screeched and went to run inside, so we talked baout how big she is, and how little the fly is and how the fly is probably more scared of her.and if there was something to be frightened of, i would be sure to protect her....

she stayed out for a bit...

so will try to perservere.. more of an issue in the car
