why aren't my 3 week old's nails growing?

I thought newborns nails were meant to grow so fast they would need to be cut a few times a week, however my baby boy is now 3 weeks old and his nails have literally not grown at all

The other odd thing I have noticed is that when he was born his nail beds were bright red, now they have turned half normal colour and the other half remains red.

Is this normal or could something be wrong?

I've tried googling but found nothing about this

I can't remember cutting my DCs nails for ages.

DD1's took months to grw, DD2's are a tiny bit quicker but that's most because she sucks her thumb so she notices quicker.

At this age my DS's and DD's sort of stayed stuck to the skin but still grew over the finger tip, I could cut them when they lifted up a bit. I wouldn't worry about it. And when they do grow and need cutting do it when they are sleeping, it is much easier!

Thank god for that! Thanks - jeez the amount of worrying I'm doing about him already is incredible (first baby). Must try to relax...

We've all been there! Do try and relax and enjoy this stage. with my first I was desperate for him to start sitting up and crawling etc, but with my second (and probably last) I relaxed a lot more and really loved the baby stage. and it is much easier to look after something that can't run off!
