DS2 is now 11 months and has never been a happy baby, he was improving as he got more mobile and could spend longer periods on his own without me. However, shortly after returning to work (4 weeks ago) we seem to have been plagued, as a family, with one illness or another.
DS2 has been really unhappy at the childminder's so much so that I may have to leave work unless we manage to sort it. FWIW before the lurgies landed chez Frog he seemed to be settling at the CM.
So thinking that perhaps I can't see the wood for the trees I thought I'd write down what's happened and see if someone else can see a medical problem with DS2 or are we having a bad patch that we just have to ride.
So..DS2 is still breast fed and generally eats well and drinks water. He was sleeping through the night (only just)but since the lurgies arrived he stopped doing that. He has not had a good day at the CM for a fortnight (I only work part time). On Friday I had to collect him early because he wouldn't settle, also CM says he has worms. He has also been constipated on and off for a few weeks. Anyway got worm medicine and lactulose and administered to DS2, 15 mins later he was sick. He has been sick a couple of times and done a horrid poo since. He will only have milk and occasionally water, he's eaten next to nothing. When awake he is completely inconsolable.
So are we going through a bad patch that will settle when he no longer has worms D and V or constipation or is there something linking his general unhappiness with the constipation for example? WOuld appreciate any thoughts.

What does he eat at the child minder's? I was just wondering if he may be having something that doesn't agree with him?

Does he get enough to drink at the CM?

The food looks OK to me and, like my other dc, he is a good vegetable and fruit eater.
He is offered water at the childminder's, perhaps he is less inclined to drink when there because he's not settled. However with one thing and another he hasn't been there that much in the four weeks since my return to work so even if he drank nothing at all at the childminder's I doubt that would have much impact on his pooing.
Anyway, an update...he's started eating again and keeping it down, also done a loose poo; maybe diarrhoea maybe loose because of all the breastmilk he's been scoffing. Hopefully will be able to dispense the worm medicine tomorrow then monitior the constipation if it occurs again. Fingers crossed that he will settle at the childminder's on Thursday and Friday otherwise I will have to leave work.
