20 mo DS has thick black hairs on his legs.

Went to the GP today about it.
She's referred him to a paediatrician, the appointment being in a month's time. She said she's never seen anything like it on a toddler. No hairs in pubic area or under arms. He's otherwise fit and well with wheezy tendencies.

Has anyone got any experience of this?

and thehairs are just on the outside of his thighs - not loads but enough to be noticeable.

Does he have much hair anywhere else?

normal amount on his head. very very fine soft downy on his back. that's it.

Sorry, that's me out of ideas. I know someone with a baby with quite a few hairs on his legs, but he has very very thick dark hair on his head/neck/shoulders.

There's a little boy at one of the toddler groups we go to with that - he has a thyroid problem. He has hairy arms too.

No, not a lot, about ten I'd say but quite long. I think he is being investigated but he's quite little so I don't think they treat that young, just watch it.

ok thank you. thinking about it, DS is a bit on the short side too, so it could well be that.

Try not to worry, most of these things are completely treatable and for some babies hirsuteness is just normal for them and unexplained. He may well just grow out of it.
