DS (2yo) has a funny little lump on his willy

Noticed it in the bath, I think cos it was floppier in the warm water. It's like a little bubble under the skin. Doesn't feel hard, is clear ish in colour. I can kind of move it up and down under the skin. It's maybe the size of a pea but more oval shaped, IYSWIM. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all, no redness, swelling and if he's cold and the willy's all small, you can't even tell.

In the UK I'd take him straight along to the doctors to be sure but here in Spain the paeds ALWAYS stretch the foreskin back and often make it bleed, even at routine well baby check ups. They tell you that you must do it everyday at home too, "to stretch the foreskin". I just know they'll do this and I don't want them to hurt him if it's nothing, and then have him frightened of the doctors.

I'm thinking harmless cyst or slight accumulation of liquid and to keep an eye on it and then obviously take him to the doctors if it gets much bigger or hurts etc... am I being terribly neglectful? Any experience of anything like this?

Thanks

might just be smegma which is normal and should clear away again.

DS1 had a little mobile lump which was slightly whitish in colour. It did get a bit bigger over time. As previous poster said it was smegma. The doc gave us betnovate cream and eventually the lump came out and it smelled like stilton cheese... yuck it was awful, but then it just disappeared and he has been fine ever since

that sounds reassuring...what is smegma? I have a feeling the answer will be gross.

for your delectation.................Smegma (Greek smēgma, "soap"[1]), sometimes described as a "cheesy substance",[2] is a combination of exfoliated (shed) epithelial cells, transudated skin oils, and moisture. It occurs in both female and male genitalia.it also smells offensive...a bit like stilton

eeew, as I thought.

Lump still there but doesn't look any different. Just going to keep an eye on it for now.

it normally works its way out of the foreskin but my consultant prescribed a sterois cream for a month with my son. Then it came out with no probs
