Coughing after staying at friends house

Hi there, hoping to find some answers. My 2,5yo ds stays some days at my friend's house and I am getting a bit paranoid about him starting to cough after the visits. It seems to happen quite regularly. They have a problem with dampness in the house. My question is, could it be some kind of allergy or intolerance to the dampness? Or is it just a set of coincidences? I don't have any experience with allergies or things like that (thank God) as our families have no history of such things.
Anyone with a similar sort of experience or a piece of advice? Thanks

It does sound like an allergy - it could be to mold, which is likely, as you mention the house is damp, or it could be to dust.

If I were you, I would take him to the GP and explain his symptoms - they might want to try you with a Ventolin inhaler, since it is a ocugh, or they might suggest Piriton, which is an antihistamine (you can buy this over the counter, and give it to him before he goes).

Let us know how you get on!

could also be pets, past or current?

Thanks Pixie. I will be more observant to see if it happens only after the visit or if it is a virus. Then I ll consider the GP visit.

nightcat - no pets here or there.

thanks for your replies x
