My 10 yr old DS has just been sent home because he is itchy and has a red spot/bite on the back of each leg?

Ive just picked up my ds from school who say that he hasnt been himself all day - although he seems totally fine to me - they had PE on the field first thing and since then he has developed a red angry looking spot which is a bit swollen all around it. He also has a nasty looking spot/bite, just behind his armpit which he has been itching loads and now looks red and crusty. He says he feels itchy and has felt tired. Im assuming he has just been bitten whilst outside - but could there be anything else thats causing it - his teacher thought it might be the grass? He hasnt got a temperature. The school said he had to come home but I cant see why to be honest.

The school are probably worried he's having a first time allergic reaction to something, which is why they want you to take him home.

Is the itchy red spot surrounded by white and then a light red ring? If it is, then it could be a tick bite.
Best to take him to the GP to get it checked out.
Tick bites can give you 'Lymes disease' which makes you very tired, but they can sort it quickly with antibiotics.
My then 3yr old, had a tick bite a couple of years ago and the GP took a photo of it, e-mailed it to a colleague in the New Forest and prescribed the treatment.
We get a lot of ticks around here

I dont like the sound of ticks, but looking at the spots I dont think thats what they are. I shall go to the chemist and get some bite cream which will hopefully stop it itching and ask them what they think - he is going away to cub camp at the weekend so I want them to calm down asap so he doesnt itch them and make them worse before then.

Has he had chickenpox?
