Excessively hungry and sleep-needy toddler

DS2 is almost 2 and has always had a good appetite and needed lots of sleep but things are getting a bit extreme now

He's happy enough during the day but he is eating and sleeping so much! He generally goes to bed at 7pm and drops off straight away - then sleeps through til about 6am but when he wakes he is still tired but so so hungry - this morning was even worse we were up at 5am with him shouting "teatime! teatime!"

He then ate: full bowl of shreddies, bowl of cheerios, 3 satsumas, banana, chocolate pancake, 2 biscuits, crumpet, babybel, sultanas

and then went back to bed at 11am. He will probably sleep for 3.5 to 4 hours now and when he wakes will have lunch, snacks, tea, snacks, supper.

He is normal weight for his age although is quite tall. He does poo alot (not surprising given the amount of food that goes in)

I am struggling with this getting up early to give him food but he is clearly very hungry but is also still very tired - what's going on?

PLease do not tell me that he's got worms as I have a total phobia of them and would completely freak out

Not sure I can help much but I do know that during a growth spurt both of mine would eat and sleep a lot more than usual. In fact I would probably not have noticed the growth spurt had I not learnt that it followed on from one of their phases of eating and sleeping so much. Hope that helps but if it doesn't settle I guess a trip to the docs can't hurt.
