Hiya all, I haven't been on MN in aaaages but I need some advice.

My DD1 (who is almost 2.5 yo) has been complaining of lower backache on both sides (Near her kidneys) for about 8 weeks. At first I though she might be attention seeking as we have DD2 who is now 8mo. I kept my eye on her and she continued to complain of backache in the same place, so I too her to our GP.

Our GP asked me to provide her with a water sample from DD1, I did. Luckily it all came back negative. I have since taken DD1 back to the GP's but too no avail.

DH and I are in the process of changing our GP's, so will take her to the new one as soon as I can.

DD1 has been complaining of backache and her legs hurting her this morning and I do not know what to do. I have googled her symptoms and I now I shouldn't but I am really worried now.

Has anyone been through anything like this with their DC's or can anyone offer me any advice?

I read your title and immediately thought kidneys too. What did your google search throw up?

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 02/04/2010 16:14

It could be muscular, there's a muscle that runs down the back called the psoas(sp??) muscles, it could be something to do with them stretching as she's growing???

Is she in pain at a specific time? (when she moves for example)

get another urine sample done - not just a dipstick test but a Midstream Urine sample which gets sent to the hospital to grow for a week - this can pick up other bugs not detected with the more simple test

Thanks.
The google search kept throwing up tumors of the spine !! So I am staying away from google now lol.

The water sample was sent to the hospital for cultivation (I think that was what the GP said)

DD1 seems to notice or tell us about the pain quite sporadically there seems to be no 'set' pattern to it IYSWIM.

Toady she has complained of her back hurting her but not her legs!!
