2 yr old complaining of sore tongue

Not really sure where to post this, but hopefully someone can help.

DD is 2.2 and fairly healthy. She is being monitored over a query egg allergy, but I think she has grown out of it to be honest. But a few times recently (4/5 times in last week) she has complained that her tongue is sore, always after a meal, but with no common food (my first thought was allergy). She has got a cold at the moment, could she have confused a sore throat with a sore tongue, or is there some other explanation?

HAve you looked in her mouth? Does she have any spots on her hands, feet or bottom?

If she does have spots or ulcers in her mouth it could be a childhood virus called hand foot and mouth. Cold symptoms are typical for this virus.

Haven't seen any spots, and she does stick her tongue out for inspection. And I have a cold too, so just assumed her cold was the same as mine. Will have a good look for the symptoms you mentioned at bathtime tonight though, thanks.
