Did my 6yo dd just have a period?

Last night when my 6yo dd1 got changed for bed I discovered blood in her pants. I had a look at her and can't see any trauma, so it looks like it really came vaginally. This morning however there is nothing to be seen anymore. She's also been having quite a lot of clear vaginal discharge since this summer. Was this a sign that something is changing? Otherwise she's got the body of a normal (skinny) 6 yo girl.
I'm quite worried about this and dont know what to think.

I think I would be worried too. If you are certain that you can see no other explanation, I would see the GP about it, maybe it requires investigation. Did you discuss it with her?

You really need to get it checked out. It may be something innocuous but if she has started puberty early you need it go get looked into. I also know of a child who had bleeding due to a benign ovarian cyst.

Just be prepared that the doctor or hospital will probably be obliged to rule out sexual abuse as the cause of bleeding....

I was planning to book her in to see the GP first thing on mon. I'm aware that they'll have a look into sexual abuse too as vaginal bleeding in a child is always suspicious. One thing that I do know though is that yesterday dd1 did fall awkwardly on the playground and hurt herself between her legs, but no visible scratches or anything, but could the jolt have broken her hymen?

definitely, that's why gilrs who horse ride rarely have an intact hymen by the time they hit puberty... the contant jolting and bumping

that sounds like it could be the answer. I would think that if it doesn't happen again then nothing to worry about. Save the poor girl an examination

I think you need to visit your GP.
