Toddler with sore, stuffed up and runny nose. Anything I can do?

DD2 (16 months) has a cold for the first time. Her nose is that awful combination of stuffed up and runny.

She hates me wiping it and even if I keep at it all day it doesn't seem to do any good.

Her little face is getting sore and she is miserable. Is there anything I can do/give her to help?

Thanks

Rather than wiping her nose you could get one of the little tube-gadgets (sorry, don't know what it's called in English) to suck out the snot. She probably won't like it too much (though you might find she does!) and it will help her to breathe while avoiding wiping her nose and making it sore. Don't get one with a bulb, use one that you suck with your mouth. They are far more effective.

use expensive ultrabalm tissues and some sort of cream - Elizabeth Arden 8h is fab if you have it, but vaseline or similar will do. I use the waitrose bottom butter as we always have it in the house.

at night use Sudacrem and use a plug-in vaporiser thingy for an hour before bedtime to make the room mentholy, then switch off.

Snot suckers are ace.

Also Karvol caplets sprinkled on her mattress (away from skin contact). And baby aspirin or ibuprofen will help dry it up if she's really bad.

karvol do a plug in thing that is brilliant at night.

I swear by squirty saline nose spray. She won't like it much but it is very quick and painless and really makes a difference.
