I always seem to be posting here lately .

I'm getting really worried about dd2 and what seems to be a poor immune system.

In the past month she has had Scarlet fever, a tummy bug and is now unwell again with a high temp and possibly a cold. She has been ill on and off since September, she has had so much time off nursery, as soon as i send her back she picks something else up and is poorly again. She used to be a good eater (lots of veg and fruit ect..) but since having Scarlet fever has become fussy, she's lost weight since last week (when she had a tummy bug) and looks really pale (unlike her).

I have taken her to the GP around 10 times in the past month (i think they are getting fed up with me), she constantly has a sore throat (well when ever she will let me look at it) and often gets high temp's (over 38.0c).

Up until last September she was really healthy (just the odd cold) but now she's unwell more often than she's well.

I'm really worried that there could be something else wrong but what could it be?

Its hard to work out how dd2 is feeling and how unwell she is as she has Autism and can't tell me, she's almost 4 and i know she's going to pick things up at nursery but her sister (who is a poor eater) has never had this many bugs).

Thanks Leonie - i can only get a look at her throat if i pretend to be a dentist (like on Peppa pig) , she won't let a doctor look so quite often her throat doesn't get checked.

Hi my dd has also had a shocking winter and we too are always at the dr. Since Xmas she has had 2 x chesty/bronchilitis episodes, an ear infection, a d and v bug and a constant cold. My dr actually told me I take her too much and am panicy! She is 9 months old FGS!!! This is the worst winter I have known and all my friends kids are the same. X

Hi Marne,

My DS has had three bugs that have involved at least 24 hours of vomiting in the last three 6 weeks. This last episode has stopped him eating for three days. he looks gaunt and skinny and it has worried the hell out of me. i have spoken to two GPS, both of whom quoted me some very reassuring statistscs on how often children can become ill amd how bad this year has been for bugs. I even rang his teacher and she said yes, that he was having a bad time with bugs but it isn't uncommon.
My plan now is be reassured that he is recovering in between the bugs. Give him vitamin pills. Give him some time off school in the week. Be reassured by other peoples stories of regular illnesses and theorise that it's all down to the 1st, very bad illness that he had in Jan that has left him more open to catching things. Perhaps that's what happened with the Scarlet fever. Infections can stay in the body for a long time. Last year, DS had to be investigated for leg pain and I was told it was because of a virus he had three months ago.

Another one here for healthy anxiety too!!! Not easy!!!

I even started a similiar thread about it in this section, that reassured me allot. Seems to be pattern...kids get one, big nasty illness then catch everything else going.

Hope she picks up soon x x

Thank you for your post's, i suffer with health anxiety and phobia of vomiting, i have just started having hypnotherapy to try and help with the anxiety. I hate this time of the year (well September through to March) as there are so many bugs around. Dd2 tends to vomit when ever she gets ill, when she had the d&v bug a few weeks ago she was sick over 30 times and didn't eat for 3 day's . The scarlet fever was horrid and lasted over 2 weeks, she had 2 lots of antibiotics which made her feel worse.

I'm tempted to reduce her hours at nursery until after Easter, she goes for 5 mornings a week at 2 different nursery's (twice as many bugs) and seems to be getting tired very easily.

Me too, me too. Was very reassuring reading this post (tho not to hear all your lo's have been poorly). My DS has been poorly on and off since november, he looks pale and dark eyed and has lost loads of weight through constant viruses. Ive been getting SO worried about him, even dreaming that he has something really wrong with him and my GP's waiting room is our second home, Ive actually been getting embarrassed about going so much. Just wanted to say I know how you all feel and sending lots hugs and fingers crossed for a healthy spring!!!
