My DS (1yr old - just) has what looks like a cold sore. Should I take him to the doctor?

Or if not the doctor, what should I do about it? I just noticed it. My DH gets them and it looks v similar to that.

There is Hand Foot and Mouth disease at his nursery, but he has no ulcers in his mouth and no rash on hands or feet. He has been off colour for a few days, has had a very snotty nose and cough and had a temperature last couple of days as well as sick last 2 days.

I'd be very grateful for advice as I have read that cold sores are not good in young children.

Hi MyCat. I would definately go. My DD had something similar - which turned out to be a fungal infection that needed cream. Best get it checked out.

Hello, thank you for the response. As it turned out it was me panicking and nothing was there this morning. It was odd though, looked almost like a cigarette burn (we don't smoke or know anyone who does who was with him, so it wasn't). I think he must have banged it on something just before going to bed.
