Hi,

My second post in children's health today!

3.5 year old dd does a lot of what I can only call "wet farts" (had to rack my brain to avoid using that phrase in thread title!). We have to change her knickers frequently and it seems to be getting worse.

Is this just because she's young and doesn't know when she needs to go, or is it a health issue? Could she be allergic to something?

I know that it can be due to constipation and impacted poo, but I'm sure she isn't constipated...she poos a lot.

Sorry for really TMI, but any knowledge or experience would be gratefully received!

It could still be constipation, even if she seems to poo a lot. Have a look here where it explains a bit more.

It sounds like seeing the GP could be worth doing.

OK, thanks I'll have a look.

Had same problem with dd2 at that age. Have to say it carried on (on and off) until she was 5. Never was sure why it happened, just a toileting issue maybe, though dd is prone to a bit of constipation. Anyway, it didnt really cause any issues (carried a spare pair of pants in school bag just in case) and it happens very rarely now.
p.s she always ate a lot of fruit, i did wonder if that contributed.
