Poor little love.

Metanium ointment worked really well for bad nappy rash for DS, much better and quicker than sudocream. Air drying her bottom too if you dare.

debka · 11/02/2010 20:57

Ever tried cloth nappies? My dd is in terrys and has never had nappy rash.

paddypoopants · 11/02/2010 21:01

I'd second the metanium - horrible yellow stuff though it is. It was the only thing that worked for my ds's nappy rash after a nasty bout of diarrhea. You have to put it on really thinly. Breast milk also helped surprisingly if that's an option.

PandaEis · 11/02/2010 21:03

clean her bum thoroughly and put raw egg white over the rash. it really works and very quickly too air dry her bum aswell and maybe have a towel under her for accidents. Has the D&V settled down??

i hope she is better soon and her rash clears up

Mamii · 11/02/2010 21:04

Metanium does the trick! Just in case you had any doubts.

katiepotatie · 11/02/2010 21:09

Matanium never worked on our dd's terrible nappy rash, in fact I think it made it worse. Bepanthen is a super cream, slather loads on it'll be clear in the morning, I swear by it now.

Let her lie without a nappy as much as you can too

Mumcentreplus · 11/02/2010 21:21

Dry the bum and then smear on a thick layer of pet.jelly /vaseline..its a barrier but it also soothes..worked a treat on my DDs bum

Eglu · 11/02/2010 21:22

I would definitely agree with the raw egg white if it is very bad. It works very quickly and amazingly well.

claired21 · 11/02/2010 21:25

Bepanthen didn't work for my DS, Kamilosan (has camomile in) worked wonders. Camomile really soothes skin so you could use a camomile tea solution on flannels to clean for a while. Oh yeah, and no wipes!!!

abroadandmisunderstood · 11/02/2010 21:25

Another vote for Metanium here (sparingly). DS1 suffered extreme nappy rash from ezcema that required Dr's help, but what they prescribed wasn't a patch on Metanium. It was also much safer and gentler than their Cortisone (yikes!). Live and learn...

Are you sure it isn't thrush. DD had it as a baby and we had to get an antifungal cream from the GP can't remember what though.

Lionstar · 11/02/2010 22:01

Another one in the Bepanthen camp here, tried all the others but that was the only one that cleared up very sore skin

alypaly · 12/02/2010 00:00

Metanium is brilliant, but you could also try a total barrier cream like Siopel which is fine too

Has your dd had any egg by mouth yet ? My ds was horribly sensitive to egg even if he touched it. Please do a tiny amount on her skin first.
