Please tell me wwyd - would you take your child to gp with touching tonsils?

Me and dh are disagreeing, please tell me wwyd.

dd doesn't seem that ill, and no fever, but complaining of v sore throat and trouble swallowing. When i look in her throat her tonsils are v. big and touching.

dh says this isn't really a problem as she's not feverish but i'm not sure.

what do you reckon - need to call for an appointment now but we can't agree.

Yes, because it might still be tonsilitis even without a fever. Dd gets a fever usually, but before Christmas they went manky without a high temp. Also, the tonsils might be swollen now and the fever might come on later.

what did her tonsils look like last week?

I would take her but am a bit sensitive about tonsils. have just had DS's tonsils out because they were like this all the time.

I think I would probably try some neurofen anti inflamatory and if this doesn't help I'd go to the GP.
Actually think doesn't even cover it. She'd probably be in A+E by now [over protective parent emoticon]

I would take her as a same day appt.

Thanks for replies. I took her - as her tonsils are normally on the large side but not actually touching so that she struggles to swallow food. It was confusing me that she didnt actually seem ill with it.

Anyway GP said she could be on cusp of tonsilitis as they're big and she has lots of glands up, but for now she's ok and to come back if she goes downhill.

Poor thing though, we came out of the surgery and she walked straight into a hand rail on a wall and gave herself a black eye. Took her back to school looking far worse than when I dropped her off.
