DS is 3 this month. Has always been very healthy apart from a few chest infections and ear infections (the usual toddler things, nothing out of the ordinary).

However, he's been complaining that his eyes and head hurt for about 2 months now. After two episodes where he woke up at night screaming in pain about it, I took him to the Dr. We had an eye test at the optician, who found nothing but recommended a referral. This has now happened and we are waiting to go to the hospital in 2 weeks time. Meanwhile, DS is now complaining on a daily basis. It's only occasionally (always during the night) that he actually wants calpol for the pain, the rest of the time it seems to be an annoyance to him rather than severe pain.

He's eating, growing and behaving normally and generally thriving, although he sometimes looks a bit pale and complains of being tired. TBH I probably wouldn't have picked up on these but because I am already worried about him I notice more IYSWIM.

He has, about twice, complained that his eyes hurt while actually holding his ears, so I wonder if his ears are actually the problem, but I won't know until they start investigating more.

In the cold light of day I am able to tell myself that it is probably something minor and straightforward to deal with, and that the risk of it being anything nasty is extremely small. But at night, when I'm on my own and I've just had him awake crying again, my brain starts going into overdrive, as it is now.

Please reassure me, or better yet, tell me if this has happened to your DC and what was done about it. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

To start off your poor DS i bet he feels awful. Hes proberly tired in the day if hes had a rough night.

If hes had his eyes tested and they`ve found nothing your proberly better off just waiting for the referral, hard i know but try not to worry.

Im sure you`ve already looked at these things but do you notice he complains after hes watched TV or sat to close to it?

Maybe keep a food diary, i know that may sound crazy but my DS suffers with stomach migrains and has done since he was about 3 months old, and certain foods set it off, and the pain only happened at night.

I know its hard because ive done the same when alone at night you mind goes crazy but try to relax.

Let us know how you get on x
