Dark circles under 12 year old dd's eyes

For the last week she has had very dark circles under her eyes. She is very tired even though she goes to bed at 7pm to wake up at 6.30pm for school.

2 months ago her we consulted her GP as her whole face looked bruised and he suggested eczema and that she stopped cleaning her face and using her spots treatment. Her skin got much better.

However I'm thinking this is not eczema? Could it be dustmite allergy or some other allergy? Can anyone cast any light on this?

It could be an allergy - why not buy an antihistamine and see - it should reduce after a couple of days.

Dark circles under the eyes caused by allergies are called 'allergic shiners' - you could do a google search on them and see if the symptoms match.

Has she just started Y7? If she has, then she might just be exhausted. I know you say she goes to bed early, but starting a new school is very tiring, and she's probably had a lot to take in in a very short period of time. Let her take it very easily for the holidays - Christmas films and PJs - and then see how she is.

I hope she feels better soon!

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply, in ths very busy time of year. I will keep a very close eye on her, but since the xmas hols started, things have improved and she is full of energy again. Maybe she's just allergic to school!
