DS in hospital with bronchiolitis - how can I stop it from coming back??

My 10-month-old is in hospital with bronchiolitis from the RSV virus, he is getting much better and will probably be out tomorrow but is has been awful. Both him and my 3-yr old have hyperative bronchiols and have had several chest infections, bouts of bronchitis etc. We usually manage it well with ventolin and pulmicourt inhalers. I just feel so traumatised about seeing him go through this sickness that i want to do anything I can to protect him in the future. I know I am going to be terrified now every time they get colds!
Anyone have any tips? We have taken the carpet out of their rooms and put in a wooden floor. Am also thinking of getting an air filter/purifier. What else can I do?

Hi. My son had bronchiolitis and pneumonia last year at a similar age. I am not sure you can prevent them catching other infections but my advice would be to trust your instincts and take any chest issues seriously straight away. My DS has had lots more chest infections since but has never been as ill as the first time because we are now super pushy and make sure he is treted as soon as he starts to get sick.
