took her to the doctors about it on Friday.
(i've been giving her chloramphenicol drops as she appeared to have very itchy eyes for a few days last week aswell.)
he told me to keep her on the drops for a few days as this would clear up any infection that she might have. However,as far as the "dry eyes" thing,he suggested i take her to the opticians to see if they can advise/test etc.
just a bit worried cos he seemed to think she was too young to be suffering from this.i asked the optician-got an appointment for this Friday-if this is normal. She said it wasn't but it could be that she needs some artificial tears in the mornings.does anyone have any children with this?

chloramphenicol is not for itchy eyes...it is for sore, red and infected eyes that have a yellow discharge. Does she suffer from hayfever, asthma ofr any allergies

if her eyes feel dry, hypromellose or lubritears are really good. I use the lubritears myself when my eyes feel gritty.
She isnt suffering from joint pains is she,or a prolonged sore throat

allergy to pets?

cutekids · 15/12/2009 18:34

she gets a sore throat on and off why?

just wondering about the sore throat in conjunction with sore dry eyes. It is sometimes a sign of RA( please dont worry unless she has other signs) and might be worth getting a blood test if there is no explicable reason for sore eyes. Has she ever tried Opticrom allergy eye drops. Does she have any other related or unrelated symptoms?

cutekids · 16/12/2009 11:02

What is RA?

oh...rheumatorid arthritis???
She has been getting tummy aches on and off...in the lower region but I've been told that's probably more to do with her age (periods about to start etc.)
She was getting ulcers in her mouth for a while.
The sore throat was-i think-due to a viral infection.

im glad it was due to a viral infection but if the sore eyes and the sore throats continue ,i would get a blood test just to be on the safe side. I would defintely not wish that on her

,it could just be an allergy and opticrom may well work for her
