I shouldn't need to do DD2 again till weekend but I found lice again on her already. Does this mean I need to do her again now, then at weekend or wait till weekend? So tempted to go buy some of the really strong chemical crap

I think Hedrin should be used alongside combing with nitty gritty. The reason you have to use it 7 days apart is because it can't get all the eggs in one go, it relies on the fact that they will have hatched in the following 7 days and no more have been laid. If I were you I would comb tonight and again on Friday, then use the Hedrin at the weekend. I would then comb again early next week to make sure dd is completely clear.

Have you treated everyone in your household? I would certainly try all the above before resorting to chemicals. HTH

thanks, not got a nitty gritty and dds hair so fine that even the side thats meant to get the eggs out isn't getting anything out, having to do it by sight. Yes everyone treated at weekend and everything washed(hats, bedding etc)was planning on doing everyone again at weekend.

DS has really fine hair, and I was doing it by sight until I got a nitty gritty comb! fabulous, even got the eggs......he actually asks now to have his hair combed through ( as long as it's infront of DVD!)

Am definately going to get a nitty gritty when I can afford it

Needcoffee if you live in the UK I think you can get them free under an NHS scheme, check with your pharmacist.

NeedCoffee · 10/12/2009 14:45

really? Well I tried on the minor ailment scheme at my local phamacy and they wouldn't even give me a normal comb. Will look into it, thank you.

I've been combining it with Lyclear tbh. But doing the combing every single night is the best way.

God, it's tedious though

NeedCoffee, go to the nitty gritty website : www.nittygritty.co.uk and they have a form you can print off to show your doc and get a free prescription.(sorry , can't do links!)
