My ds who is 2.10 moths has a squint that has only just become noticable. I mamged to get him to the eye clinic this week and saw a consultant who wants to see him again in a fortnight but as usual on the Nhs they couldn't fit us in until Jan!
Am I wrong to worry? Its just with everything I read it says the sooner a squint is treated the better and now I am paraniod that any dely will lead to him having a lazy eye instead of just a squint.
We still don't know anything about what is causing it so don't know the next route that they will take.
He is saying regularlly that he can see two of me and covering his squinting eye when watching TV which he has never done before.
Are these things that should cause me to worry and push for an earlier appointment. Will waiting do further damage?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

January is not that far away once you take into account xmas and new year holidays. DD had a squint diagnosed at 18 months and it turned out she had a lazy eye and that was in part causing the squint. She is long sighted and ended up with glasses. She also had patching treatment to help the sight in her lazy eye. The eye develpos up to the age of about 7/8 so there is plenty of time for your lo to get treatment.

Jan will be fine, it's not that long away really.

He'll be started on eye exercises to help the muscles strengthen, so the treatment doesn't work immediatly anyway. Don't let him cover his eye though - he needs to make it work

Squint correction is a long pocess so so wating a couple of weeks is not going to harm .

It is worth the wait so get it sorted so hang in there
