Ill 22m/o won't stop crying

Both boys are ill this week with D&V (at night).

DS2, who'll be 2 in feb, also has bad cold and is off his food with bright red cheeks. but he won't stop crying. He won't settle, won't lie down, doesn't want to eat, won't play... he is just roaming round the house, hysterical.

I don't know what to do! it's like he's exhausted but he won't sleep, won't cuddle, and goes wild if I put him in his cot.

HELP! Any ideas?? I have got Calpol into him (which was a messy, hysterical struggle), but what else?

could you book into gp in case he may have ear infection
get some baby nurofen and alternate the 2 but personally i would take to gp to rule out anything else that can cause this as my ds would usually settle well after meds cuddle etc but if he didnt it was normally because there was something else wrong normally ear infection after a cold
