DD 4.9 has had a temp of between 38.6-40.5 since tuesday, she has had a snotty nose so swine flu was blamed. Today i thought no this is day 5 (i hadnt bothered with tamiflu cos i thought just a temp and a snotty nose didnt justify swine flu). Got her in with emergency gp and they found protein, ureates and blood in urine and said urine infection, she has now been started on trimpethiprim. Just feel really angry with myself that she has been suffering for 5 days, i should have pushed it from the start as dd had lots of urine and kidney infections as a baby and toddler and only ever had a plus 40 temp with a urine infection!

Hi mummytopebs my dd 4.9 had high temp and vomiting. She had her urine dipped at GP and she was started on Trimpethiprim because it showed up protein and white blood cells (indicatin UTI). However after it came back from the Lab we were told that she did not have any infection. She had high temp for about over a week later. I was so worried that I went back to GP. Another urine dip (over week later) still showed up protein and white cells. GP said that the protein was due to virus, and white cells could just be skin cells in urine but reassured me that there is nothing sinister. I was so worried too, i have to say but my daughter now seems well generally and that makes me feel better. I was totally alarmed when they said there was white cells in urine. Don't have any experience of this before. I am hoping that she is OK now. Hope your little one get better soon.
