dd got chest infection but her breathing dont seem right!

she as meds (abbs) for chest infection but i been watching her breathing most of night as she seams to be different her , she looks like she using her entire body to breath and then its failing thats only way i can explain it. am going to wake her to see how she is awake!

if still same could it be she getting worse or still cos its the infection? we have managed to get her temp under control now since yesterday.

Doctors now.

Take her to A&E she will probbaly need a nebuliser and inhaler. Don't worry it's very common when they are young but does need seeing to. No point in going to the gp they will send you straight to A&E.

How many breaths per minute is she doing and is her chest pulling in above the collar bone or below the breast bone?

below i think not sure about breaths seems slower but deeper sorry am rubbish at this phoning nhs now

phoned gp they say bring her at 10 and wait do i go to a&e dont want towaste peoples time

Seconded Pixie, young children can go downhill frighteningly quickly with breathing problems. Noone (decent) will ever accuse you of timewasting.

hi all just got in from hospital been there all day , they gave her an inhaler and salamol spray and said they can keep her in to watch over nite and give oxygen if needed. but she seems a lot better now and wwe have told them if she becomes ill over nite will take her straight back!

we are regulars in hospital anyway and we do usually go straight in (she as lots of problems) but this breathing thing was new to us she usually just stops breathing

but as other said if you do come across this with your children please go straight in.
